What is this?

Climate justice is a concept which seeks to promote the equitable treatment of all disenfranchised, vulnerable, and marginalized communities – often with a focus on those impacted by the climate crisis – in the response to, and mitigation of, adverse climate-related effects. It considers whether all individuals and sectors of society have access to the resources needed to cope with the effects of climate change, and also calls for greater representation of those groups in decision making. Furthermore, climate justice seeks to address the disproportionately negative effects of climate-related changes and the unequal responsibilities for climate affecting violations, drawing on principles of social justice, human rights, and equity.
